Goodwood Revival Meeting

September 16, 2011 - September 18, 2011

The Goodwood Revival Meeting is a motor sport event quite unlike any other - over three days in September, the historic race circuit is magically transported back in time, to faithfully recreate its heyday in the 1940s and 1950s. Visitors are actively encouraged to enter into the spirit of things by dressing up in period costume, and it's not uncommon to see Marilyn Monroe rubbing shoulders with RAF Spitfire pilots, and celebrity drivers.

The main attraction of the weekend comes in the guise of the races between classic cars and bikes with distinguished pedigrees, and equally renowned drivers. Previous years have seen the likes of Sir Stirling Moss, Le Mans legend Derek Bell, The late (and truly great) Barry Sheene, Rowan Atkinson, and ex-Roxy Music frontman Brian Ferry to name but a few.

There's simply nothing quite like hearing the sound of these beautiful machines as they round Madgwick Corner and into the straight, and the chance to see them as nature intended, at the peak of their performance, is quite wonderful.

Additionally, there are many other things to take in, such as breathtaking flying displays by the classic aircraft of the era (Spitfires, Mustangs and Hurricanes are all likely to be spotted), and a wide range of live music and entertainment.
