Veuve Clicquot Polo Gold Cup Final

July 17, 2011

Cowdray Park in beautiful Midhurst, one of the spiritual homes of the international Polo circuit, plays host to the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup in July. The final marks one of the highlights of the English social season, and gives visitors a chance to see some of the best players in the world at the very pinnacle of their game.

The day is also hugely family-friendly, and early arrival is advisable if you want to find a good spot to see the game (and of course, be seen!) - bring a rug and picnic hamper, and soak up the atmosphere of a truly special afternoon. One of the principal attractions of this fixture lies in its intimacy as there is ample opportunity to get close to the action, unlike at so many other venues.

Previous finals have seen all-star teams clash in epic style, with renowned backers such as the late Kerry Packer (one of Midhurst's most distinguished adopted sons) and Swiss entrepreneurial legend Urs Schwarzenbach. This year promises to be no different, and even if you have little interest in things equine, there is still grand spectacle to be had, and in close proximity indeed to Bosham!
